A lovely necklace by one of Finland's foremost jewelry designers, Liisa Vitali. From her iconic "Leppäkertu" series from 1966, this design was known as "ladybird". Constantly inspired by nature, Vitali's designs are lively interpretations of her surroundings in rural Finland. This is the largest pendant size of the design motif and with its lengthy chain, it makes an excellent statement piece.
Liisa Vitali was part of an avant garde group of jewellers who in the 1960s pushed Finland onto the international stage of design. Beginning her career at a young age, she developed her skills working alongside designer Tapio Wirkkala at the firm of Westerback Oy. Vitali's designs have become quintessentially Finnish - her original creations are still reproduced today.
