A lovely pair of 14k gold earrings by one of Finland's foremost jewelry designers, Liisa Vitali. From her iconic "Leppäkertu" series from 1966, this design was known as "ladybird". Constantly inspired by nature, Vitali's designs are lively interpretations of her surroundings in rural Finland.
Liisa Vitali was part of an avant garde group of jewellers who in the 1960s pushed Finland onto the international stage of design. Beginning her career at a young age, she developed her skills working alongside designer Tapio Wirkkala at the firm of Westerback Oy. Vitali's designs have become quintessentially Finnish - her original creations are still reproduced today.
The earrings are the rarer, medium-sized version of the motif.
