Lovely earrings by handmade by Finland's Liisa Vitali. The motif is a rare version of Vitali's "gardenia" design which was produced in the 1970s by Nils Westerback.
Vitali was wholly inspired by nature and many attribute this particular design to forest pools in her native Finland. The subtly moulded shape of the silver reflects the light beautifully when worn. The earrings are one of a kind, and made by Vitali herself. They are part of a collection previously owned by the Liisa Vitali estate.
Liisa Vitali was part of an avant garde group of jewellers who in the 1960s pushed Finland onto the international stage of design. Beginning her career at a young age, she developed her skills working alongside famed designer Tapio Wirkkala at the firm of Westerback Oy.
