A charming ring by Finland's Hannu Ikonen. These are part of his famous “Renmoosblüte” or Reindeer moss series which in many ways perfectly embodied the new Finnish impulse in jewelry making in the 1970s because of its sculptural quality and its modern interpretation of a natural theme.
Reindeer moss, also known as Iceland Moss, is traditionally used in funerary wreaths however there is a certain joy in Ikonen’s interpretations. His designs are at once bold and delicate. It is quite rare to come across this ring in silver which is more commonly found in bronze.
