Lovely earrings by handmade by Finland's Liisa Vitali. The motif is a rare version of Vitali's "Kissantassujen" design which was produced in the 1970s by Nils Westerback.
The expressive detail that the self-taught Vitali is able to achieve with simple wire is remarkable. Vitali was always inspired by nature and other designs in this series resemble onions and clams. The The earrings are one of a kind, and made by Vitali herself. They are part of a collection previously owned by the Liisa Vitali estate.
Liisa Vitali was part of an avant garde group of jewellers who in the 1960s pushed Finland onto the international stage of design.
